1963 Porsche 356B 1600 Super Coupe

This 1963 Porsche 356B 1600S Coupe is finished in Ivory (6404) over a black leatherette interior. Representing the final year of the 356B, the T6 iteration featured a square-ish front hood, a larger windshield and rear window, and twin-engine grills that improved engine cooling. The fuel filler was moved from the trunk compartment to the right front fender, and the gas tank itself was reconfigured into a flat shape, becoming the bottom of the storage area. An air intake vent on the cowl provided better ventilation for the passengers. The front and rear bumpers of the 356B were raised four inches and the front fenders were modified raising the headlights for better visibility. According to the documents provided to European Collectibles, this car was owned by a single Southern California family from 1976 to the present. This 356B is offered as a project and is not running or driving in its present condition. It is a very solid 356 with good floor pans. Both exterior and interior will require restoration.

The Porsche Kardex confirms this 356 was completed on March 29, 1963. The first owner, Mr. Stinson from Escondido, California took delivery on September 7, 1963, from Competition Motors in Culver City, California. Originally ordered with a 1600 SUPER engine and delivered with two armrests - left and right, two pairs of seat belts - left and right, Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio with two speakers and antenna.

The interior features reupholstered black diamond-pleated front/rear seats and rear deck, the rear quarter windows are able to open for ventilation, VDO gauges including a dash-mounted clock, and a Blaupunkt Newport SQR29 AM/FM/Cassette radio. A dash-mounted climate mixer allows the control of the fresh air to be blended with heated air for the passengers' comfort.

The matching 1600 SUPER air-cooled, four-cylinder engine produces 75 HP at 5000 RPM, and 87 lbs. ft torque at 5000 RPM. The engine does turn over but is not running. A four-speed manual transmission (Type 741) directs power to the rear wheels and has a four-wheel drum braking system. A clean title, spare tire, and jack are included in the sale of this 1963 Porsche 356B 1600S Coupe, located in California.
