1965 Porsche 356C Cabriolet

VIN 160913 completed on August 11, 1964

European Collectibles was commissioned to perform a full Concours level restoration with no expense spared over a 20-month period, from 2015-2016. During the restoration, the 356 was completely disassembled so that every aspect could be properly addressed. The body was stripped to bare metal and metal finished. The decks, doors, bumpers, and soft-top frame were all properly fitted during the metal finishing to ensure the best possible fit. The complete driveline was rebuilt including the engine, transmission, suspension, braking system, new wire harness, and fuel system. All of the chrome was triple plated, and the components were either restored or replaced.

According to the Certificate of Authenticity, this 356 was originally delivered in Light Ivory with Black leatherette interior. The owner elected to have the color changed to a special order Bali Blau (6412 color code) a very desirable and stunning color combination with a Fawn leather interior and tan carpets. Options include a VDM Wood Carrera steering wheel, AM/FM Blaupunkt Frankfurt Stereo, loudspeakers and antenna, Hella 128 fog lights with amber lens, removable headlight stone guards, and chrome wheels with Vredestein Sprint Classic 165HR15 tires. Mechanically, the 1600cc engine has 75 horsepower and is a joy to drive with a smooth-shifting manual 4-speed 741 transmission. Matching number driveline per Certificate of Authenticity. Complete with tools, jack, books, boot cover, photo documentation of the restoration and Certificate of Authenticity. Rare to find a 356 Cabriolet in perfect show condition in a stunning color combo that is sorted and ready to enjoy!

History

The 356C represents the final and most developed version of the model that made Porsche's reputation on roads and racetracks throughout the 1950s. It was a far cry from the handful of basic sports cars made in a small village in postwar Austria. Porsche had grown exponentially and gained an enviable reputation all over the world for building high quality, fun, and quick sports cars. It was almost all thanks to the 356, and the 356C was a worthy send-off.
